@pyancy yes. but unlike twitter which is a walled garden, jaiku is a nuclear bomb shelter with reinforced walls. There aren't many users, and no one can sign up.
Aside from @walkah and @robloach's Drupal open microblocing project, and some things that seem to be bubbling around in the xmpp space, I think the biggest thing that could happen in favor of OMB is when google opens Jaiku back up and integrates it fully with gtalk, and the OMB spec? that'd kill the market. Easy.

it's true. that's why I keep coming back rather than just giving up on the site, as I have on so many others.
Threading could be a little nicer, but beggers can't be choosers, and I worry that RSS importing can be abused (not from a spam perspective but from a "dear god that's really annoying" social perspective, but the site is much better about blocking things than it used to be.
So I keep coming back.
